How do you not "buy it" ...its a fact that its stored with a lot of other rare BMW //Ms that didnt make it to market, such as the E34 M5 convertible and E39 M5 touring. It is a modified CSi in the way an M5 is a modified 5 series...
I dont think you know what your talking about lolAnd furthermore the engine is NOT a detuned F1 engine, its an uprated M70 using M20 architecture. The engine in the 850 and 850CSi both use the same blocks using the M20 design
The architecture for the F1 engine was COMPLETELY different, using an M50 block archiecture. The engines have VERY LITTLE in common other than they were both V12s made by BMW!
CSi engine was NOT the F1 engine or even CLOSE, it had 2 valves per cylinder and no VANOS whereas the F1 had 4 valves per cylinder and dual VANOS
A lot of misunderstanding about this car...
This engine was not designed for OR used in the McLaren F1
This engine was a 5.6L V12 with four camshafts and multiple valves per cylinder, based on the M20 I6 engine
The car was considered unsafe and there were also concerns about whether there was a market for the car, so it never made it to production
The 850CSi is NOT an M8 NOR does it use this engine, but is as close as a production car got to an M8
